This was a note written on Facebook dated Saturday April 10th 2010 at 10 pm by one of our delivery drivers. Hope you enjoy

I've been debaiting on how to tackle this acticle for some time now. A couple weeks atleast. I guess I should atleast attempt to give a preview of what you will get to be reading for the next few minutes.
I'd like to describe my place of work, those I work with, and why I enjoy it so much. Why, despite its 9$ an hour salary, I stick it out. Lord knows I could probley find a better paying job, so there has to be a reason I stay yes?

Watanabe Floral Inc is a family run buisness, with around 80 employee's. At some point, the compay employed over 130. However, as times changed, and the company adapted with the market, jobs were lossed as two of the nurseries the company owned were closed. I say it is a family run buisness, not just because the Watanabe family runs it, but because it is a family.

How many work places do you know of, that honestly cares for their employee's? That are honestly happy, to see said employee's? Whenever I come into work, I'm greeted, smiled, and asked how I am doing. At times, by people I don't even know! Yet somehow, they know me. And when they ask how I'm doing, they actually care. Like a family, Watanabe Floral looks out for each other, supporting each when needed. Sometimes, without even being asked to do so. Thats family right there.

The best part of my job? Well, in order to tell you that I should first tell you just what I do at Watanabe Floral. I'm a delivery driver, for Mass market, and when needed retail. What this means is, in the morning I gather up the products we sell, and deliver/stock stores such as Foodland, Costco and Walmart. At times, I'll also go to PCC, and various Florists around hte sland. However, thats not the best part.

The best part, is the retails. Specifically, those delivered to hospitals. One could argue I could find a better paying job. Thats true. What I would never be able to find though, is the joy I bring to others. When i walk into that room, to see someone hooked to a machine to live. They often have the most depressed look upon their face. Then, when they see what I've brought them, they smile. That, is real joy. Thats a job with a reward. One where I can lay down at night and know I improved someones day. I made the world a little bit better of a place. I'll take a job like that, over any amount of money.

It's that reason, among the others that I love my place of work so much. Why to me, it's the best job in the world. We don't just deliver roses. We make the world a better place, just by doing our jobs. To me, thats what is greatest part of Watanabe Floral Inc.

You do more than you know! Mahalo for all that you provide for us!

We received a very nice facebook comment the other day. It said "You do more than you know! Mahalo (thank you) for all that you do for us!" This got me thinking about a few things. I have no idea who this person is and what we've done for them, but the sincere gratitude was greatly appreciated. As i reflected on this comment, I thought about the people in my life who I needed to express my appreciation to. It's sometimes easy to get caught up in the rush of the day that we forget the small things. I made it my goal for the week to take the time to show my appreciation to everyone i could. From the cashier at the grocery store to my family. It doesn't take a lot to express your feelings to someone, but it could make a big difference in someone's life. So to everyone, "Thank you for all that you do for us. We truly appreciate all that you do."

Mahalo and Aloha

Easter 2010 - Spring is here

Easter 2010 -

Wow, can you believe that it's Easter already. Easter is one of our favorite holidays. It's a fun holiday with our annual Easter Egg Hunt. It's great to see children from the community come out and enjoy the different games and activities. It's a joy to see their faces light up as they open up their eggs and find their different coupons for discounts, gift cards, gift baskets, and other free prizes. This year's event is happening on Saturday April 3rd at 2:00 pm (activities start at 1:00 pm).

Along with the fun Easter Egg Hunt, Easter brings out the colors of Spring. It's so refreshing to see the flowers in their brightest hues. The potted Hydrangeas in the bright pinks, the potted Gerbera Daisies in their full array of colors, and the potted Easter Lilies in their brilliance make the show room so inviting. With a mix of bight colorful tulips and roses, the beauty of spring is on display daily.
